English as a Second Language (ESL) Class Report

A summary of the ESL ministry in 2022

Sally Reichardt

March 1, 2023

The year of 2022 has been a sad one for students and teachers at ESL with the deaths of two of our teaching team; Peter Forbes and Beryl Ferguson. We miss them both and their contributions to our classes. It is a constant reminder to me of being part of the body of Christ and that we all have our part to play and function differently when someone is no longer contributing. We have also missed Yvonne Hall who has had to take time out for medical reasons.

Whilst we farewelled team members we welcome Ross Willis and Rod Haywood from St Phil’s and Tai Liang from St Mark’s onto the team. Their enthusiasm and concern for our students is a great encouragement. If anyone would like to drop in and see what goes on at ESL on Tuesday mornings they would be very welcome. We always need extra ears!

Rod Haywood and Clarence Huin are leading the Bible Classes which follow our language classes. Currently about half our students stay on for these classes. Please pray for our students to come to know and love Jesus.

This ministry is amazing in its reach into our community. Students bring their friends and make friends and we pray that our love for them reflects God’s love for them.
