August 13, 2021

Every year we meet together as a Church family to give thanks to our great God for the way he has blessed us in Jesus and for the ministries we undertake. At this service we also take up a special collection for special needs and projects beyond our regular budget as a church. We ask our members to consider how they might be able to give above their regular giving towards these projects.

This has been a year like no other. Some have been hit hard with financial constraints while others have been blessed with healthy incomes. Whatever your circumstances, our desire for all of our members is to be generous and joyful givers when it comes to the finances God has given us.

Total goal: $100,000

This year our total aim for special projects and missions is $100,000. Please read the following pages, then pray, and respond thankfully as you consider your 2021 Thanks Giving gift. Your gift can be made by direct deposit into our Church bank account.

Missions

Total: $22,000

  • Chinese Christian Mission Australia: $3,000
  • Christian Community Aid: $3,000
  • Scripture (SRE) now at 8 schools: $10,000
  • SIM Malawi, AIDS education programs: $4,000
  • Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students: $2,000

This year, we are seeking to raise $22,000 towards these very important missions that operate in our own area, throughout Australia and the world. We are now involved in 8 schools which has greatly increased our connection with families in the Eastwood and Ermington areas. This is an important growth area. We continue to support the AIDS education programs in Malawi, people in need in our local area through CCA, Mission to Chinese speakers throughout Australia and we have increased our support for student work with AFES.

Evangelism and Training

Total: $8,000

  • Training courses and outreach events for our whole community - Eastwood, Ermington, and a bit more!

There are always many opportunities and open doors for ministry, training and evangelism. This fund will enable events to be planned to help reach people in our community. We look forward to running outreach dinners, marriage enrichment courses, open air events, conferences, and help send many of our leaders to training courses, especially our children and youth leaders. This includes supporting events like Easter Fest, Christmas Carols, sending youth to conferences like KYCK, and assisting with running costs for Alpha and other courses... and much more!

Ministries and Staffing

Total: $20,000

  • Trainees and children's Workers

As Anna, Josh and Andy continue to serve with us into 2022, we are also keen to support Ningjia (5pm Mandarin service) as she begins ministry training next year. We continue to increase our children's ministry work across both sites, including a new Sunday school program for Ermington with the new 10am family service, as well as reaching the many new schools for SRE (Scripture).

Building Work

Total: $50,000

  • Eastwood Stage 1 & Ermington Rectory (non-tax-deductible funds)

We have commenced work on the renovations for the Ermington Rectory and we will soon commence the building of a new access ramp and toilet block for the Eastwood site. God has gifted us with the resources to get these projects under way. This money raised will allow the funds to continue to flow into these projects, whilst also preparing for the final parts of stage 1 development, including the car park completion.

The Ermington Rectory will provide a fully renovated home for our Ermington minister, Robin and his family, and will serve us well into the future as a Parish.

The ramp and toilet block will greatly increase the amenity of the St Phil's site and is part of the master plan for the new auditorium in the future.
