I love eating food. Whether it’s crunchy, mushy, simple, complex, salty, sweet, strong, or subtle—I’ll eat it. No matter where it’s from or how long it takes to prepare, I’ll clean the plate. My love for food is obvious; it takes plenty to keep me slightly chubby and rotund. And if you think I like food, God likes it even more - He invented it!
This Sunday’s focus is food - God uses it to teach Peter that the gospel extends to the Gentiles. Cornelius’ conversion shows that people of every background can belong to God’s family. Now, anyone from any culture or tradition can celebrate that God’s plan from the start was for all believers to be ‘one in Christ Jesus’ (Gal. 3:28).
- As the year commences, just like Cornelius:
Engage fully with God's word and in prayer - you can use our resources to help you - praying together and reading together. - Why not enjoy Christian fellowship - commit to inviting others over for a meal today or this week ... of if you're a young adult, come along the Gaming Night on 21st February.
- Wholeheartedly worship God. As John Piper reminds us … "The ultimate kindness of God, the ultimate meaning of eternal life, the ultimate goal of justification, the cream of every promise is the knowing and enjoying the fellowship of God himself in Jesus Christ."
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Yours in Christ,
Eric
